Tennis made an epic return in 2022, with the Adelaide International on from 2-15 January with back-to-back WTA and ATP tournaments.
In a battle between the tournament’s top two seeds, Gael Monfils captured his first title in almost two years with an assured victory over Karen Khachanov in the Week 1 men’s singles final.
World No. 1 Ash Barty claimed her second Adelaide International title in the past three years thanks to a masterful performance against Elena Rybakina in the Week 1 women’s singles final.
Week 2 ended on a high, with Thanasi Kokkinakis winning his first career ATP Tour title after defeating Arthur Rinderknech in the men’s singles final. The fact that it came in his home city, before an atmospheric Centre Court crowd, made it all the more poetic.
Playing in her first final since January 2020, Madison Keys claimed the Week 2 women’s singles victory. Shr clinched her first title in two-and-a-half years with a win over Alison Riske.
